health benefits of garden cress seeds Organic Garden Cress Seeds 250gOver 1,400 years ago, the Prophet Muhammad spoke of Ath Thuffaa (cress seed) alongside aloe as one of the two bitter remedies carrying immense healing. Over 1,400 years ago, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ spoke of Ath-Thuffaa (cress seed) alongside aloe as one of the two bitter remedies carrying immense healing. Ibn ʿAbbas رضي الله عنهما narrated:

“What a cure do the two bitter remedies carry: the Thuffaa (cress seed) and aloe.”
(Al-Jamiʿ as-Saghir, 5067)

Known as Al-Hurf in Arabic and Rashad seed in popular usage, cress seed was praised in prophetic medicine for its ability to warm, stimulate, and cleanse the body.

Ibn al-Qayyim and earlier physicians noted that it:

  • Removes intestinal worms and parasites

  • Heals mange, herpes, and skin ulcers

  • Decomposes spleen tumours and chest congestion

  • Boosts sexual energy and appetite

  • Repels venomous creatures when burned

  • Prevents hair loss with its smoke

  • Eases asthma, hard breathing, and dissolves thick phlegm

  • Increases menstrual flow and relieves stagnation

  • Relieves sciatic nerve pain and menstrual discomfort

  • Acts as a gentle laxative for constipation and bloating

  • Improves headaches caused by cold and phlegm

Galen likened its warming and mucus-dissolving powers to mustard seed — potent, penetrating, and deeply restorative for “cold” conditions.

Scientific Perspective

Modern research on Lepidium sativum confirms much of its traditional reputation:

  • Glucosinolates & isothiocyanates – Mustard-like compounds that warm the body, stimulate circulation, and help dissolve mucus in the respiratory tract.

  • Phenolic antioxidants – Protect against oxidative stress and support tissue repair.

  • Anti-inflammatory effects – May reduce joint swelling and muscle discomfort.

  • Antimicrobial action – Inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria and fungi.

  • Respiratory health – Supports the clearance of mucus in asthma, bronchitis, and chest congestion.

  • Digestive support – Acts as a mild laxative, reduces bloating, and stimulates appetite.

  • Bone & joint health – Rich in calcium, magnesium, and vitamin K.

  • Hair & scalp health – Nutrients improve circulation to hair follicles, potentially reducing hair loss.

Menstrual & Hormonal Health
Cress seed is traditionally valued as an emmenagogue  a herb that stimulates or increases menstrual flow. The warming, circulation-boosting compounds may help address delayed or irregular cycles, including in women with PCOS, where periods are often absent or infrequent due to hormonal imbalance. By improving pelvic blood flow and supporting hormonal regulation, cress seed may help restore natural menstrual rhythm when stagnation or “coldness” is a contributing factor.

Why Choose Organic Garden Cress Seeds?

Cress seed (Lepidium sativum) is a nutrient powerhouse that delivers a rare combination of vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and therapeutic plant compounds — making it especially valuable for hormonal health, fertility, digestion and respiratory support.

It’s naturally rich in:

  • Iron + Vitamin C – Supports healthy red blood cell production, energy, and recovery from iron deficiency (perfect for women’s health).

  • Calcium + Vitamin K – Strengthens bones and supports hormone function.

  • Magnesium & Zinc – Vital for fertility, libido, hormonal balance, and immune health.

  • Omega-3 & Omega-6 fatty acids – Reduce inflammation, support heart health, and nourish the skin.

  • B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, folate) – Boost energy, metabolism, and nervous system health.

  • Glucosinolates & isothiocyanates – Mustard-like compounds that warm the body, stimulate circulation, clear mucus, and fight harmful microbes.

  • Mucilage & dietary fiber – Aid digestion, ease constipation, and soothe the digestive tract.

This nutrient profile makes it especially beneficial for:

  • Women with delayed or irregular cycles (including PCOS)

  • Those looking to improve libido & fertility

  • People with chronic inflammation or joint pain

  • Anyone needing lung & respiratory support

  • Digestive health and detox

  • Those who want to maintain overall health

Very comfortable, fits nicely with my not-so-flat tummy, gorgeous color
Color: Blue, Size: XX-Large, Color: Blue, Size: XX-Large
This is a very comfortable shirt. It feels cool when you wear it and it's slinky soft against your skin. It arrived with fold marks, but those fell out nicely after a few hours hanging. So this is a no-iron shirt for sure, which I love. I haven't tested the stain shield claims but am familiar with this material so I believe it will resist stains. It does dry quickly when damp. I love the blue color I chose. It's bright and cheerful but not tacky. The photos I posted are pretty close. The material is thick and feels like quality fabric. The stitching is single-stitch, which makes me feel that it's maybe not as durable as double stitched or crossover stitched hems. But regardless, the stitching is tight and the hems are even. The button holes durable and the firmly sewn buttons match the fabric very closely. The fit is very nice. I'm a bit stout, so slim fit shirts are too tight across my stomach if they fit in the shoulders, or too loose in the shoulders if they fit my middle. The cut of this shirt is a good compromise and it looks very nice. And the slight stretch of the fabric makes it very comfortable when I'm moving around. The collar is stiff enough to sit nicely and not flop too much. This shirt is great for casual wear but looks nice enough for a more dressy situation. I think it's a good price for a very nice shirt.

Nice shirt, great price
Size: Large, Color: Royal Blue
Very nice shirt. Has a soft, flowy (?) hand to it. Not starchy like a lot of oxford button-down collar shirts. Second one I’ve bought. Nice

Great shirts.
Size: X-Large, Color: Black
I have 10. These are great, stylish shirts especially for the price. I usually wear between size L-XL slim fit (Banana Republic). I’m 6’ 200 lbs medium athletic build and L fits perfectly. With a quick press, they do not wrinkle easily. I get plenty of compliments.

Runs large, not slim fit
Size: Medium, Color: Green
The shirt definitely runs large like all the other reviews say. I usually wear a large, but the medium fit much better. The shirt is definitely not slim fit though.
